Like, where HAVEN’T I seen a break up, make up? A character who is reluctant to work with the other protagonist, comes to befriend them, sees their friend do something awful in the midst of pressure, walks away because they’re hurt and feels the friend has reveal their true colors, forgives the friend completely later, finishes the adventure with them. A character who acts self-confident and unperturbed but has internal vulnerabilities about situations in the past. A character who shirks the law but then comes around and upholds it in his line of work. There’s nothing too unique about how his character was built. ![]() While I would say that Nick is still my favorite character in the movie, and he’s likable, he’s also an incredibly stock character. ![]() I was extremely interested in Nick Wilde’s character since the previews and had great hopes for him. In a similar manner, none of the characters were all that original. Out of the entire film, I would say only one incident came as a surprise: flagging down Flash the sloth for speeding. There’s nothing too original about the premise, how the plot progresses, how the main characters interact and develop, and how the conflict gets resolved.īecause of that, the plot was incredibly predictable for me. That’s because it’s a very standard plot containing elements I’ve seen time and time again in all sorts of stories. I admit I don’t have too much to say about the plot. More commentary and major **spoilers** to follow. Would I call it outstanding, no, maybe not, but still something worth seeing once. Would I see it again? Every once in a while, sure. Even then, with that nuanced but comprehensible theme, it wasn’t perfect, and there was actually one area that made me uncomfortable: dialect. I’m impressed with its combination of intricacy and understability. In many respects, it did some downright cool and intricate things on that theme. What is by far most interesting about Zootopia is its deep, underlying social commentary about diversity, prejudice, and barriers to acceptance. ![]() By and large it was good but didn’t stand out to me. Nevertheless, while it was fun, and I wouldn’t say that it was bad in any respect, I also wouldn’t claim that Zootopia is amazing, either. I did like the movie and came out of it feeling positive, thankful that I went into the theatres to watch this flick. It looked like it had a lot of potential for creativity, depth, and imagination. I was very excited to watch this movie ever since I first saw previews for it. Now that spring break has rolled around the corner, I finally have had the opportunity to watch Zootopia.
